Building design must consider energy saving aspects, for example, placing large windows looking south (in the northern hemisphere and in mid and high latitudes) so that solar radiation may heat the interiors; applying thermal insulation to the thermal envelope of the buildings (roofs, facades, frameworks, etc.), to lessen thermal leakage; or installing solar panels to increase electrical energy independence.
