Normal everyday living in the home can also lead to considerable energy savings if there is a change in attitudes and if one is aware of real and necessary consumption. In the majority of the cases it is simply a question of selecting an energy-efficient appliance or streamlining the consumption of heating, air conditioning and hot water.

Appliances are very important in domestic energy savings. The majority of appliances in the European Union have a special sticker called the energy label which indicates the consumption efficiency and how respectful an appliance is with the environment. Not all appliances carry the sticker, only those which consume a lot or are plugged in for most of their useful life such as: refrigerators and freezers, washing machines, dishwashers, washer-dryers, lighting, electric ovens and air conditioners.
